The Swim Performance Lab and the School of Kinesiology offer fitness assessments to Cal State LA community as well as the general public through the Lifestyle Integrative Fitness Testing (Eagle LIFT) program. Eagle LIFT is a fee-for-service program that provides clients with an affordable assessment of their physical fitness while providing Kinesiology students with practical experience in a service-learning setting. The fitness assessments currently offered are listed below.

  1. Body Composition Assessment (via hydrostatic weighing): This test is the gold standard for determination of body fat percentage. Included is a discussion of healthy or sport-specific body composition along with measurement of your body percentage.

  2. Maximal aerobic capacity (VO2max): This test will provide a measurement of your body’s maximum rate of oxygen consumption. You will exercise until exhaustion by running on a treadmill, pedaling a stationary bicycle or swimming in a swimming flume at increasing exercise intensity until fatigue while your expired breath is collected an analyzed and your heart rate is monitored. Included is a discussion of how your test results can be used to achieve your performance goals.

  3. Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR): This test will provide information about the amount of calories your body requires at rest. Your expired breath will be analyzed while you lie on your back for 10-15 minutes. Bring clothes that are warm and comfortable. Included is a discussion of how your test results are related to your weight management goals.
